In 2001, Dr. Jeanne Bergeron developed the ‘Quilts in the Classroom’ project for her Children’s Literature class at the University of Miami. Since then, this project has proved effective in Miami-Dade County classrooms, and has gained recognition from the Miami Herald, The Ocean Waves Quilters, and the Lowe Art Museum.

As Stephen Nachmanovitch says, "Creative work is play. It is free speculation using materials of one's chosen form.”  Now Dr. B. gets to play with her chosen form, fiber art, full time!
