Rocafort

Jeanne Bergeron was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area.  She learned to sew the summer between second and third grade on her grandmother’s Singer Featherweight and has been sewing and quilting ever since.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching Vocational Home Economics (cooking and sewing) from Sam Houston State University, a Masters in Specific Learning Disabilities from Florida International University, and a Ph. D. in Reading and Special Education from the University of Miami. Dr. Bergeron has taught every grade level from Kindergarten through graduate school with a focus on creativity, children’s literature, and reading.

In addition to traditional pieced and whole cloth quilts, Dr. Bergeron also creates art quilts using her own batik fabric.
